Three short stories

Bert Bakker made his debut in the Dutch literary magazine Hollands Maandblad (Waar gebeurd, 1990). He has had his work published in the Frisian literary magazines Hjir, Farsk and Ensafh. In 2008, he won the second shared El Hijzra literature award (van Gennep, 2008).

The first story A ship’s berth (Een scheepshut) was nominated for the 2007 Brandende Pen, a Dutch prize awarded by Lava for the best short story in the Netherlands (Lava 13.3). It has been translated into Frisian and appeared in his first collection of stories, Ien mei de dingen (Noordboek, Friese Uitgeverij, 2009).

In 2011 Bert Bakker was traveling though Indonesia: The sun also sets here, the second story. Published in: Eén met de dingen 

The story Warm Shit is dedicated to Jan Bert de Jong. Translated into Frisian by Baukje Stavinga. Previously published in HJIR, Frisian literary magazine (HJIR 3, July 2007)) Warm Shit is one story in a serial consisting of 22 installments.
